Preventive maintenance is based on the estimation of the life cycle of an equipment. It involves carrying out maintenance actions listed in a maintenance logbook which provides for the replacement of the equipment before its end of life as estimated by the manufacturer.
This type of maintenance is based on the maxim "prevention is better than cure".
